Waiheke House
A generous single level beach retreat nestled into the coastal hillside with sweeping ocean views across the Hauraki Gulf and down into the bay immediately below.
Two snug bedroom wings, crafted from split-face concrete, frame a vast, over-height central living pavilion wrapped in glass. This bold architectural composition invites light and sea views deep into the heart of the home.
A rich palette of textured concrete and natural stone grounds the retreat in its coastal setting, tying it seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. Stone cladding continues into the interior, reinforcing the spatial definition of the home’s distinct wings while blurring the boundary between indoors and outdoors. At the core, two monumental open fireplaces anchor the living space, while pale oak timber floors and white grooved ceilings bring a relaxed, beachside character to the interiors.
The home opens westward to expansive ocean views and eastward to a sheltered entertainment courtyard, creating a fluid connection to the outdoors and a variety of living experiences throughout the day.
