Matarangi House
This pared-back modern Coromandel beach house in the coastal settlement of Matarangi enjoys a vista through pine trees to expansive sea views.
Glazed walls are located recessed back into the dark vertically timber clad envelope to provide weathering.
The vertical rhythm of the building’s exterior echos the majestic trunks of the neighbouring pine trees.
The home opens east towards the beach and west to a sheltered afternoon entertainment courtyard. A private bedroom suite is raised as a viewing tower above the busy home below.
